How the word is used in Acts

How is the Greek word “word” (logos or λογοσ) used in Acts?

I took a deep dive into this and you can see all of the passages and occurrences in this Google doc.

It became pretty clear to me that “the word” is most often connected to the Gospel message. Check out my work and see if you agree.

I think we can read “ministry of the word” in Acts 6:2 & 4 and think “Sunday sermon” or “Bible study” but I would argue that in that story, the apostles wanted to focus on sharing the message of Jesus with people more than anything else. Yes, they would share about Jesus with the new believers, but according to Acts 6:7, “the word” was continuing to spread, which means lost people were hearing it as well.

We could also tie this to John 1:1, where we learn that Jesus is the Word sent from God to us. The apostles were just continuing the work of spreading the Word in the same way the Word had been given to them.

So today, how can you devote yourself to prayer and the ministry of the word, just like the apostles did?
